LYNDHURST, Ohio — Two landscapers with absolutely no regard for gun safety found a weapon in a yard and proceeded to point it at each other while pulling its trigger.
The result — as one might expect — was not good: One of them was shot and sustained a severe mouth injury.
At 10:15 a.m. Nov. 4, the two men were working in the yard when they found a gun on the property.
The Huron men pointed the gun at the Painesville man, and pulled the trigger multiple times.
The gun did not discharge.
The Painesville man then took the gun and pointed it at the Huron man. He, too, pulled the trigger — and the gun, this time, did discharge.
A bullet struck the man in the mouth.
EMS transported the injured man to Hillcrest Hospital. His condition was not listed in the police report.
The Painesville man was charged with negligent felonious assault.
The detective bureau is continuing to investigate the situation, including the gun’s ownership, how it came to be left in the yard and if further charges are necessary.
