Lord Bamford Retires from the House of Lords

The 78-year-old stepped down on 1 March, according to Parliamentary records

Executive chairman of JCB Lord Bamford has retired from the House of Lords.

The 78-year-old Conservative peer stepped down on 1 March, according to parliamentary records.

He recently celebrated 60 years of service with the construction equipment firm, based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

JCB told the BBC that Lord Bamford was “honoured to have had the opportunity to serve in the House of Lords.”

A spokesperson for the company said: “Lord Bamford, at the age of 78, is full-time executive chairman of JCB, a £5.7bn British-based family business.

“He has devoted a lot of time in recent years to highlighting the important role of hydrogen as a zero-carbon fuel of the future,” they said, adding that he was “keen to continue this important work.”
