“One Heck of an Update” Makes DOOM Playable on Husqvarna Automower®

Prepare your robotic Lawn mower for an adrenaline-fueled experience filled with dark corridors and hell-spawned demons. The legendary 1993 video game DOOM® will be playable on Husqvarna Automower® NERA robotic lawnmower models from April this year. In what we call “one hell of an update”, the software update will be released for download via the Husqvarna Automower® Connect App. The decision to release the game to product owners follows the amazing response DOOM x Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers had at the gaming event DreamHack Winter 2023.

The update will be available exclusively for owners of Husqvarna Automower® NERA models. You can sign up now to play from 9 April to 9 September 2024.

When the first-person shooter game DOOM was released in 1993, it changed the gaming landscape forever. The intense atmosphere, 3D realism (for the time), the growls from demons approaching around the corner and the pulse-pounding experience made DOOM a cultural phenomenon.

The game’s legacy remains undiminished. And now, for the first time in history, it’s possible to mow down demons on your own Husqvarna robotic lawn mower.

How to register
The software update will be made available for download via the Husqvarna Automower® Connect App, exclusively for Husqvarna Automower® NERA models. Owners of these robotic lawnmower models can sign up for the software update here [Husqvarna.com/register-doom] already now.

Following registration, and once the software update is released for download on 9 April, 2024, it may take up to a week before the game is playable on the robotic lawnmower. A tip to get the software update downloaded as fast as possible is to enable Wi-Fi on the robotic lawnmower and to ensure good coverage at the charging station.

Sign-up closes on 26 August 2024. On September 9, 2024, a software update will remove  DOOM from the robotic lawn mowers.

How to play Doom (1993) on Husqvarna Automower® NERA
The game is played by using the robotic lawnmower’s onboard display and controls. Players navigate the game by using the robotic lawnmower’s control knob to turn left and right. Pressing the START button will make you run forward. To fire, players press the control knob.
